John Harte is one of California's most experienced and longest-tenured photojournalists. His award-winning career includes 28 years as a full time staff photographer with The Bakersfield Californian newspaper and 11 years as the photojournalism instructor at Bakersfield College. John began offering his photojournalism skills to the consuming public in 1999, one of the first photographers to recognize that the emerging digital technology would make it possible to place photojournalism, long the exclusive domain of newspapers and magazines, directly in the hands of the consumer. His product, Shooting Star Sports Photography, became an instant hit in Bakersfield and grew into a juggernaut service, with clients booking him up to four years in advance. John joined his friend Felix Adamo, in developing Wedding Stories..., the only wedding photography service in Bakersfield being offered by full-time photojournalists.

John was born in New York City and currently resides in both Bakersfield and the coastal city of Grover Beach, just outside San Luis Obispo. He is a graduate of the journalism school at California State University, Northridge.
